Meet the Team

Susan Blomley, Licensed Lay Minister

‘A born and bred Anglican, I am also a retired language teacher and have lived in Hythe since 1988.  I am married with 4 sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  We lived in France for 18 years following retirement, and it was there that I finally listened to my calling and was licenced as a LLM in 2012.  Since our return to the UK in 2015 I have been very involved with leading worship, preaching and all aspects of parish matters’.

Chris McMahon, Family and Children's Ministry Co-Ordinator

Hi, I have worked here as the Children’s and Families Ministry Co-ordinator since August 2016, having previously worked as a Family Support Worker within Children’s Services. I have 3 grown up children and remarried in 2019 gaining a new husband and stepson. It is lovely being a part of and working with such a warm and caring fellowship. I feel truly blessed’.

Craig Fowkes - PCC Secretary.

I am a member of St Johns in Hythe. My life has taken a complete change since I was called. I was confirmed at St Johns and since then I have completed a BCM in pioneering and have also taken up the position of PCC secretary. I am excited for what the future will bring and extremely grateful for all of our brothers and sisters who are helping me along this journey.

Carol Moody - Pro Warden

I moved to Hythe in 1995 and was married at St. John's in 1997. Although now retired, my professional career was mainly centred around Finance Administration at the University of Southampton. Previously within the church I have covered treasurer, internal audit, accounts assistant and now Pro Warden (during the interregnum!!). I have always mixed business with pleasure and enjoy drama, walking, campervanning, most sports including skiing, swimming and of course supporting the local football team.

David Blomley - Church Warden.

Now well into my "wrinklies", I see myself, as perhaps most people see themselves, as a "middle of the road" character, having what might be called a wide range of interests but with more of a country rather than city disposition. I have been fortunate to have travelled a little and consequently appreciate that there are always at least two sides, if not more, to every story. And new stories unfold every day which generally help me to count my blessings.’

Andy Pearce - Church Warden.

‘I have been part of the church family here at Hythe for the last 6 years and Warden for the last 2. I’m a full-time shift worker and spend my spare time divided between church and family. Being practical, I play and active role on both the Buildings and Maintenance and Tech Teams. I also enjoy singing in the choir with one of my granddaughters.’

Soraya Hawker - Community and Outreach Worker:

My name is Soraya Hawker; I have been part of the Parish of Hythe team for just over a year. My role is Community Outreach Worker. I deal with the office administration and work alongside Chris McMahon and Hannah Rowlandson at St John's Hall'.

 Hannah Rowlandson - Administrative Assistant:

I’m Hannah Rowlandson, I’ve worked as the Parish Admin Assistant for the last five years. I enjoy the varied nature of my role and, amongst other things, keep a handle on all that is going on service-wise within both St John’s and St Anne’s’.
